Jumanji Attraction To Open At Chessington

Chessington World of Adventures Resort has revealed it will open a new ‘World of Jumanji’ attraction next year.

Fans of the Jumanji franchise will be able to feel part of the movies, thanks to the impressive setting and scenery costing the theme park £17 million.

This will include an overgrown jungle and a 55-foot Jaguar Shrine, along with terrifying rides.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has teamed up with Chessington for the themed land, which will be the first of its kind for the Jumanji films. It will also be the largest investment the resort has ever spent on a new development.

Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of global partnerships and brand management and head of location-based entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment, said: “After being entertained by the films for so many years, fans now have the chance to experience Jumanji in a whole new dimension and we are thrilled to be going on this exciting adventure with the creative team at Chessington as Jumanji further expands with its very own themed land.”

Other Merlin theme parks are planning several Jumanji rides, attractions, and shops within their resort. This includes Merlin’s Gardaland Resort in Italy, which opened the world’s first Jumanji ride in April, aimed at giving the whole family a “journey full of pitfalls, surprises and dangers through the wild jungle”.

As well as Jumanji – The Adventure ride, Gardaland launched Jumanji-themed hotel bedrooms for guests.

Theme park enthusiasts who want to brush up on their Jumanji knowledge should start by watching the original flick, which launched in 1995 starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst. This was followed by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017 with Dwayne Johnson and Nick Jonas, and Jumanji: The Next Level two years later.
